Wayne Schumann
Nursing Home Administrator
Wayne Schumann came to
Bedford County Medical Center in 1997 as the Directory of
Community Health Alliance. In 1998, he became the
Associate Administrator and in 1999 served as Chief Operating
Officer. In 2004, he became the Administrator for Bedford
County Nursing Home.
Schumann graduated from the University of Arizona with a
Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology. Before
coming to Bedford County Medical Center, he had vast experience
in many areas of health care. Schumann previously worked for the
Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta and he also served
as the Director of the Georgia State Emergency Medical Services.
During the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he worked in the State
Operation Center.
Schumann and his wife, Iris, have resided in Shelbyville for
thirteen years. He is a member of Rotary and serves on the Board
of the Farm Bureau and on the Bedford County Joint Economic
Development Board. Schumann and his family attend First
Christian Church where he serves as an elder, is past Chairman
of the Education Committee, and teaches the 3rd through 5th
grade Sunday School Class. He and his wife raise Tennessee
Walking Horses for show and pleasure.
